North Platte, Neb. – A double-double from Josh Osayanrhion was not enough to hold off the Indians of McCook Community College, as the Knights fell 75-71 to their rival at home on Wednesday night.
Brady Kennison led the Knights with 16 points on 5-of-15 shooting, while Osayanrhion picked up his second double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Knights held an early lead at the halftime break, but McCook continued to rally in the second half before eventually taking the lead inside the final five minutes. A turnaround jumper from Mo Diao triggered the Indians offense, as they closed the game on a 17-3 run to earn the win.
Neither team led by more than three points in the first half, until a Brandon Domsch three pointer ignited a 10-0 run for the Knights. McCook responded and cut the deficit to two in the final minute, but Kennison pushed the margin back to six at the halftime break.
North Platte (14-11, 6-4 Region 9 South) continues Region 9 South play next Wednesday against Northeastern Junior College. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Sterling, Colo.
