SCOTTSBLUFF, NECongressman Adrian Smith filed for re-election Friday to represent Nebraska’s Third Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, reaffirming his commitment to fight for everyday Nebraskans and maintain a strong Republican majority in Congress to advance President Donald Trump’s America First agenda.

“I humbly ask Nebraskans for their support and vote, and I look forward to continuing to fight for the Third District,” Smith said. “As President Trump works to restore strength, security, and prosperity for our country and usher in a new Golden Age of America, it is critical we maintain our Republican majority in the House to ensure his agenda becomes law and delivers lasting results far beyond his presidency. Nebraska families deserve leaders who will fight to keep more money in their pockets, protect their livelihoods, and defend conservative values.”

Smith has been a leader on tax reform and tax relief, working with President Trump to enact the Working Family Tax Cuts last summer to deliver meaningful relief for Nebraska families and strengthen small businesses. His work has focused on promoting economic growth, lowering the tax burden on job creators, and ensuring rural America is not left behind.

“Nebraska’s farmers and ranchers feed and fuel the world, and they need fair access to global markets, not Washington red tape,” Smith said. “I’ve been on the front lines of trade policy, working to expand market access, strengthen biofuels, and stand up to unfair foreign trade practices that hurt our producers.”

Smith also emphasized the urgent need to maintain secure borders and restore the rule of law. “The Biden administration’s willful neglect at the border allowed dangerous criminals, drug traffickers, and human smugglers to flood into our country,” Smith said. “Under President Trump the border is secure, our laws are being enforced, and illegal immigrants are returning to their home country.”

In Congress, Smith serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, where he chairs the Subcommittee on Trade. He also serves as Chair of the Congressional Biofuels Caucus, where he has led efforts to authorize year-round E-15, Chair of the Modern Agriculture Caucus, and Chair of the Congressional Ag Trade Caucus, giving Nebraska agriculture a strong and influential voice in Washington.

In 2015, Smith was recognized by the National Corn Growers Association for his work on trade and tax policy. Smith has also focused on rural healthcare access, introducing legislation related to critical access hospitals and supporting telehealth expansion. He is a member of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus and has opposed taxpayer-funded abortions.

The Third Congressional District includes 80 of Nebraska’s 93 counties. Congressman Smith and his wife Andrea, along with their two children, reside in Gering.

Smith is being opposed in the May primary by North Platte native David P. Huebner.
