North Platte, Neb. – Brady Kennison scored a team-high 30 points as North Platte rolled past Otero Junior College, 94-69, for its fourth straight win Saturday afternoon.
Josh Osayanrhion delivered a strong all-around performance for the Knights, recording a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
“Thought defensively in the first half we were really good,” said head coach Jacob Brandl. “We had really good looks at the basket the entire game and got them to fall in the second.”
North Platte set the tone early, using a pair of free throws from Dennis Rocha to ignite a 13-0 run. The Knights continued to hold the Rattlers at bay in the first half, until a rally cut the deficit to 31-22 at the halftime break.
The Knights offense exploded in the second half for 63 points, behind 22 points from Kennison. A three-pointer by Justus Michael ignited a 16-4 run that pushed the Knights lead to 23 points. North Platte continued to build its advantage down the stretch, as they put the finishing touches on their third straight Region 9 South win.
“Obviously the balanced scoring by Brady, Justus and Josh were really good for us,” Brandl said. “John Sims was ridiculously good with 13 assists and zero turnovers in two days which was huge.”
North Platte (11–7) continues Region 9 South play at home on Wednesday against Southeast Community College. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. inside the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.
