Lincoln, Nebraska — Conservative Republican, David Huebner, from North Platte, officially filed today to run for the United States House of Representatives in Nebraska’s 3rd Congressional District, marking the opening day of the 2026 candidate filing period.
By filing on the first day, Candidate Huebner signaled a strong, grassroots commitment to the people of western and central Nebraska and to restoring commonsense, conservative leadership in Washington, D.C.
Candidate Huebner is challenging 20-year Incumbent Adrian Smith in the May 12th primary election.
“This campaign is about the people who live and work here — our families, farmers, ranchers, and small business owners,” said Candidate Huebner. “Nebraska’s Third District deserves a representative who listens first, works hard, and puts our family values ahead of political agendas.”
Candidate Huebner emphasized a campaign built from the ground up, focused on personally meeting voters where they are — in coffee shops, schools, churches, ranches, and local community events across the district. The campaign will prioritize fiscal responsibility, limited government, border security, public safety, and protecting constitutional freedoms while standing up for rural Nebraska.
