LINCOLN – The Nebraska men’s basketball program was recognized for its efforts in the classroom Thursday morning, as the program received the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award.
The award is given to men’s basketball programs that completed the 2024-25 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. It is the second time in the last three years that Nebraska has been honored by the NABC. In all, 11 members of the Husker basketball program had GPAs of 3.0 of better during the 2024-25 year. The Huskers were one of six Big Ten programs honored by the NABC on Thursday.
In addition, six Huskers were named to the NABC Honors Court, which honors junior, senior and graduate student men’s basketball players who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
The group, which is based on academic class status, is headed by Rienk Mast, who earned the award for the fourth time in his career (2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025). Rollie Worster earned the award for the third time, including two seasons at Utah, while Henry Burt, Jeffrey Grace III, Sam Hoiberg and Cale Jacobsen all were honored for the second time in their career.
The honor caps a strong year for the program off the court for the Huskers. NU tied a school record with seven Academic All-Big Ten performers while Rienk Mast and Sam Hoiberg were both named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars for his work in the classroom.
