Knights fall to Southeast in home finale

North Platte, Neb.  – The Knights fell to Southeast Community College in their final home series on Saturday afternoon.

Southeast got off to a hot start in game one as they tallied eleven runs in the first four innings. The Bobcats posted their final two runs in the top of the fifth inning on a home run by Kayla Norberg to close out the scoring.

North Platte was limited to just one hit in the game, which came in the fourth inning when Heaven Hutchison singled on a hard-hit ball to the Southeast second baseman.

In the circle, sophomore Sarah Perez pitched all five innings allowing 13 runs on 12 hits.

Southeast did not cool down in the second game as they leapt out to a 15-0 lead through the opening two innings. North Platte managed to cool off the Bobcats in the third inning, while tallying two runs in the bottom of the frame.

Alieze Moreno singled to center to jump start the offense with one down. Two batters later Hutchison pushed Moreno across the plate with an RBI double, before Perez traded places with Hutchison to add the final run of the inning.

The Bobcats managed to push two more runners across the plate in the fourth to earn the sweep in five innings.

Four pitchers saw action in game two, including Callie Klemenz, Perez, Moreno and Victoria Arellano. Klemenz earned the loss allowing five runs on two hits in 0.1 innings of work.

Knights (4-20, 0-8 Region IX) will close out the season with three road trips beginning on Tuesday. Knights will travel to Hastings to take on the Broncos for a doubleheader at the Smith Softball Complex beginning at 4 p.m.
