Six Huskers Head to Mizzou Last Chance Meet

A group of six Husker swimmers will travel to Columbia, Mo. to compete in the Mizzou Last Chance Meet March 2-3. Maia Hall, JoJo Randby, Caterina Bisiacchi, Caitlin Cairns, Giulia Marchi and Anna Vlachou look to drop their times ahead of NCAA Championship qualifiers being announced.Hall is coming off a big performance at the Big Ten Championships. The junior from Whitby, England qualified for the A final in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke. She went on to capture fifth in both events, with times of 1:00.16 and 2:10.90. Her time in the 100 breaststroke moved her to second on NU’s all-time list.A junior from Omaha, Nebraska, Randby currently holds the school record in the 100 breaststroke, with a time of 1:00.07 (2023). She earned a B cut in the event with a first-place finish at the Hawkeye Invite (1:00.54). Randby has eight wins on the season and swam in the 100 breaststroke B final last week, placing 13th with a 1:01.65.

At the Big Ten Championships, Bisiacchi qualified for the C final of the 200 butterfly, with a career-best prelims time of 2:00.61. She went on to earn a 23rd-place overall finish in the event (2:01.35). In the mile, Bisiacchi added a 20th-place finish with a time of 16:37.28. She has 13 top-three finishes this season, including two titles in the 1000 freestyle.

Cairns holds 15 top-five finishes for the Huskers this season. The senior co-captain from Colorado Springs, Colo set career-bests in the 50 freestyle prelims (23.38) and the 100 butterfly prelims (54.03) at the Big Ten Championships. With her time in the 100 butterfly, Cairns was the top-seeded C finalist. She went on to place 23rd in the final with a time of 54.22.

Giulia Marchi has posted 13 top-three finishes, including five victories for the Huskers this season. In a dual with Rutgers, Marchi earned a win in the 100 freestyle (50.67) and a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle (1:50.98). She set a career-best in the 200 freestyle at the Hawkeye Invite with a second-place finish (1:49.06). At the Big Ten Championships, Marchi’s top individual finish was in the 200 freestyle, swimming a 1:51.40 to grab 36th.

A freshman from Athens, Greece, Anna Vlachou has seven top-three finishes this season. In a dual with Rutgers, Vlachou grabbed a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly (54.13) and a third-place finish in the 100 freestyle (51.19). She made a C final appearance in the 200 butterfly, placing 21st with a 54.14, the ninth-fastest time in school history. Vlachou also competed in three relays for the Huskers at the Big Ten Championships, helping the team to a seventh-place finish in the 400 medley relay with the third-fastest time on the all-time list.

Prelims are set for 10 a.m. (CT) on both days, with finals beginning at 5 p.m. (CT). Live results will be available on the Meet Mobile app.
