University of Nebraska student-athletes excelled in the classroom during the 2022 spring semester. Following the spring, the cumulative grade-point average of all Husker student-athletes was 3.338, the second-highest mark since the calculations were first recorded in 1992-93. Five programs posted their highest spring semester cumulative GPA in their sport’s history. The women’s cross country team led the way with a 3.716 grade-point average, followed closely by the women’s track and field team with a 3.634 GPA. The men’s cross country team posted its highest cumulative grade-point average with a 3.564, while softball had a 3.595 GPA and men’s tennis posted a mark of 3.478.

In addition to the record-high team grade-point averages, 392 Husker student-athletes were named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for earning a spring semester GPA of 3.000 or higher. That group included 56 student-athletes who posted a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in the spring semester. For the 2021-22 season, 108 Nebraska student-athletes were named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars for earning a 3.700 grade-point average or higher during the academic term. Nebraska also increased its nation-leading total to 348 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans after thrower Alex Talley was named a second-team Academic All-American in June.
In addition to the accolades, 81 Husker student-athletes earned their degrees at the May 2022 commencement ceremonies, contributing to Nebraska’s all-time high graduate rate of 95 percent.
