RESULTS: State Tennis Day 1

Area tennis stars took the courts on Thursday for the State Tennis Meet at the Lincoln-Woods Tennis Center and the Koch Family Tennis Center in Omaha. North Platte and Hershey had several teams qualify and compete on Thursday.

North Platte’s #1 singles Brianna Plaster dropped an opening round match to Millard West’s Alaina Callahan 6-1, 6-1. Sophomore Kinley Stine fell in the first round as well in #2 singles, dropping 6-0, 6-0 to Omaha Marian’s Ellen Crotzer.

In doubles action, North Platte’s #1 team of Samantha Bowers and Jada Mae Wheeler dropped in the opening round 6-0, 6-1 to a duo from Millard West. Teammates Raegan Douglas and Hallie Hamilton fell in the first round 6-0, 6-4 in #2 doubles to Elkhorn South.

Hershey Panthers

For Hershey, the best finish came from their #1 doubles team of Anna Berntson and Carly Sexson who were seeded 8th in Class B. The Senior duo beat Wilber-Clatonia’s duo 6-3, 6-0 in the opening round. They then fell to GICC 6-2, 6-4 in the second round.

In #2 doubles, Emma Nelson and Kate Vaughn fell to Brownwell-Talbot/Concordia’s duo 7-5, 4-6 (10-6). Kayla McNeel in #1 singles action won the play-in match over Madison Harrahill from St Paul 6-0, 6-1, but then fell to the top seed Meena Satpathy of Omaha Duchesne Academy 6-0, 6-0. Teammate Brandy Bode also won the play-in match 6-0, 6-0, but fell to Madeline Starr of Norris 6-1, 6-1.
