North Platte’s Hotel Pawnee Holds it’s First Public Viewing in Years

Hundreds of individuals browsed the Hotel Pawnee Thursday evening as California based developer, Jay Mitchell held an open house for the community to view the structure that was constructed in 1929. Mitchell said he was extremely excited to witness the outpouring of support.

Mitchell has been interested in the Hotel Pawnee for years and says that he enjoys that he’s able to bring his unique skills to the historic structure.

Mitchell says that he and his team are stumbling across hidden gems everyday that work is done in the Hotel Pawnee.

Local Architect and longtime District One Lincoln County Commissioner, Joe Hewgley was in attendance to view the Hotel Pawnee. Commissioner Hewgley says its promising to see the structure returning to some of its former glory.

Commissioner Hewgley describes the excitement surrounding the Pawnee as what could be the crowning jewel for the downtown community.

North Platte Ward Four City Council Representative, Mark Woods was also in attendance and was impressed to see the great condition the hotel was in.

Hotel Pawnee Owner, Jay Mitchell plans to hold another open house Monday evening from Six to Nine with a few extra rooms available for the public to view. A few photos from the inaugural viewing can be found below.
