On January 21st the Nebraska Legislature’s Education Committee heard testimony on a bill that would allocate lottery funds to certain education-related grant programs for the next several years. Lincoln County Senator and Chairman of the Education Committee, Mike Groene sponsored LB920 and said that programs that already are receiving lottery funds would continue to receive at least some funding under his proposal. During the Senator’s weekly update with Huskeradio’s Mugs in the Morning Groene gave an update on LB920. Senator Groene says he hasn’t yet made an executive decision on the matter and will soon sit down with a few other state senators to ensure he has the votes to move the bill out of committee.

Senator Groene adds that LB920 ties directly into his self discipline bill that has already been introduced and debated this legislative session. Senator Groene feels that the measure has enough support to overcome a potential filibuster.
