Bulldog Boys 4th at GI Track Invite, Girls 6th

The North Platte track and field teams competed at Grand Island Senior High on Thursday with the boys finishing in 4th while the girls claimed 6th overall. Millard West won both team titles, dominating the girl’s side by more than 40 team points and tying GISH on the boys side with 113 total points. The Bulldogs finished with 31 girl’s points and 93 boy’s team points.

Individually the Bulldogs were led by their boy’s throwers as Elliott Purdy and Joey Larson went 1-2 in both the discus and shot put. Purdy took the shot put title with a throw of 56’9″ with Larson second at 52’11.25″. On the discus side it was Larson taking gold with a throw of 156’4″, Purdy coming in second at 151’5″. North Platte also brought home gold in the boy’s 4×1 relay, winning it with a time of 43.23. Included on that relay were Jahmani Sterling, Kaden Ross, Nick Bocott and Kymani Sterling.

On the girl’s side, the Bulldogs were led by their 4×1 and 4×8 relays, both finishing in third place. Peyton Neff had the best individual day for the Lady Bulldogs, coming in third in the 200 meter dash (27.33) and fourth in  the triple jump (34-06.00).

The Bulldog track and field teams next return to action next Thursday, April 11th at Omaha Burke.
