The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office received a call just before 5:00 Sunday morning. Law Enforcement was notified of a crash on the Platte River bridge on Highway 10. According to the preliminary investigation, a two-vehicle head on collision occurred involving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup which was driving southbound and a 1993 Chevrolet pickup which was driving northbound.
Officials have said both vehicles were totaled, and there were no passengers in either vehicle. The collision caused a fire to the northbound vehicle. The driver of the northbound pickup died at the scene and has not yet been identified, according to authorities. The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office said the driver of the southbound pickup was injured and transported to CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
