North Platte Man Arrested After Chase

A North Platte man has been arrested after he led police on a chase on Friday from North Platte to Sutherland before eventually crashing his vehicle. 42-year-old Terry Yonker has been incarcerated for operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest and willful reckless driving with additional charges likely.

The Friday night chase began after the North Platte Police Department was called to the area of 9th and Jeffers around 11:20 PM. It was reported a female was screaming for help and upon arrival, a male involved in the incident fled the scene but was trailed by police. The man identified as Yonker failed to stop and a pursuit ensued through the city of North Platte, eventually it was discontinued as the subject went out of town on U.S. Highway 30.

Lincoln County Deputies observed the vehicle around the area of Platte Valley Road and Range Road. Deputies again attempted to stop the male subject but he refused. The subject fled from a lone deputy and drove on the railroad right of way to Hershey with deputies following at speeds in excess of 70 miles per hour. Yonker eventually drove north of Sutherland and turned to the east on North River Road and proceeded to crash his vehicle and was taken into custody with no apparent injuries. Mr. Yonker was incarcerated in the Lincoln County Detention Center.
