As Lawmakers begin the 2019 Legislative Session, Gov. Ricketts Previews his Priorities

The 2019 legislative session has officially begun and it’s a budget year.
Governor Pete Ricketts says the unicameral needs to pass a budget with regard to the state’s $95-Million deficit.

Ricketts says budgeting for in Medicaid expansion will mean institutions that get money from the state, including K-12 education and higher education, will have to share the dollars.
In addition to setting the budget, Ricketts says creating new scholarship programs, revamping the state’s business incentive program and of course property tax relief are issues he hopes to tackle during the 90-day session.
