The North Platte Track and Field teams competed in the A-4 District Track Meet at Grand Island Wednesday and had several solid finishes that qualified athletes for the State Meet next week at Omaha Burke. As a team, the Bulldogs finished in 8th on the girls side and 5th for the boys. Papillion-LaVista South won the girl’s title, while Creighton Prep won the boys.

Individually, the Bulldogs were once again led by the throwing duo of Joey Larson and Elliott Purdy, who both qualified for state in both shot put and discus. In shot put, Purdy took the title while Larson was third. Larson then won discus, with Purdy in second. Other North Platte boy qualifiers included Jacob Harvey in pole vault who came in second and Kaden Ross who won the triple jump.

On the girl’s side qualifiers included Madison Irish via qualifying standards in pole vault, Peyton Neff in triple jump and the girl’s 4×1 relay.
