The North Platte girls and boy’s soccer teams are primed for a State Tournament, as they qualified when brackets came out on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs qualified via a District Championship on Wednesday, defeating Lincoln Pius X 3-2. This is their 8th qualification in school history and the first since 2012. The Lady Bulldogs are 1-7 in state tournament play, with their lone win coming in 2005 against Omaha Central.

This year, they grabbed the #6 seed and will face #3 Millard North on Wednesday at Creighton University at 11 AM. This is the first meeting for the two squads. Semifinal games will be played on Friday, with the championship held on Monday, May 14th. All games are played at Creighton University in Omaha, with single elimination play.

As for the North Platte boys, they qualified via wild card. The seven district winners all qualify, along with one via wild card and the Bulldogs were sitting in exactly the right spot in power points to qualify. This will be their 5th trip to state in school history and their second in the last three years. They also qualified in 1998, 2001 and 2004. They are looking for their first win at the State Tournament.

This year, North Platte is the #8 seed and will face top-seeded Omaha South, who enters 18-1 on the year. North Platte and the Packers will play on Thursday at 1, with the semifinals on Saturday and championship on Tuesday.
