The North Platte Lady Bulldogs went the distance with Lincoln Pius X, needing a second overtime, but ended up coming away with a District Title and a trip to the State Tournament next week with a 3-2 decision. North Platte captures the A-6 District Championship with the win and their first trip to state since 2012, their eighth trip in school history.
The Lady Bulldogs got a huge offensive night from Abbie Hedgecock, who posted the first two scores for North Platte. With overtime period one ended still at 2-2, Gracie Haneborg delivered the go-ahead goal in overtime two that ultimately gave North Platte the win.
Girl’s state soccer begins next Wednesday, May 9th and is held at Creighton University in Omaha. Not all girl’s district finals were played last night, as two will be held tonight (Thursday). State pairings should be available Friday.
