Craft Beer Makers Concerned About Senate Bill

Senator Tyson Larson introduced Legislative Bill 632, which requires brewers to make beer at all of their facilities and ship all beer to a distributor’s site before selling it. A law introduced last year by Senator Larson  says trucks can carry beer from the brewery to the retailers. Senator Larson could propose craft brewers not be required to make beer at all their tasting rooms or brew facilities. State lawmakers would like to keep the three-tiered system of separation of brewers, distributors, and retailers. Changes could be made still, the bill would require that brewers ship to distributors instead of shipping the beer directly from the brewer to the retailers. Small craft brewers may take on increased costs, while the system is convenient for billing and tax reasons.
